Astaxanthin deserves attention for a completely different reason. It tells the story of how nature learned to survive.
At first glance, astaxanthin is simply a red pigment. Its real purpose lies much deeper. Nature didn't create astaxanthin to make animals beautiful. It created it to help living organisms cope with an increasingly hostile world.
